Hollywood, Florida Bankruptcy Expert
Nobody wants to file bankruptcy. But if overwhelming financial difficulties have led you to seek legal debt relief, advice on filing bankruptcy, or preventing your house from going into foreclosure, you may be surprised by how greatly your situation can improve with help of a trustworthy bankruptcy attorney.

Almost everyone is facing a significant financial struggle in the current economy. Between corporate downsizing, mass layoffs, high unemployment rates, and the rising cost of living, even if you’re careful you can still find yourself drowning in debt. Honest people who believe in paying their bills can become financially strapped almost overnight, and despite their best efforts, they must skip payments and dodge harassing phone calls from creditors.

In this situation, there are a few things to remember:

Bankruptcy isn’t the end of the world.
Nobody plans to be bankrupt. You work hard, pinch pennies, and cut back on costs in every way, but sometimes, it’s enough not money to stay ahead of the game. Add in a job loss, extended illness, a few mistakes with credit, or a large unforeseen expense (car accidents, burst pipes, expensive medical tests when you don’t have health insurance, etc.), and you can easily find yourself with an empty wallet, defaulted loans, several boxes of unpaid bills, and severe insomnia.

When it comes to debt collectors, you have rights.
Collection agencies, creditors, and credit card companies don’t seem to understand that twenty harassing phone calls per day do not generate money in your checking account. Bankruptcy is designed to stop harassing phone calls and letters and relieve the pressure from your situation, allowing you to transition from crisis mode to recovery mode.

You’ll lose far more sleep dealing with hateful collectors and trying to figure out how to pay enormous bills with meager income than you will once you file for bankruptcy and take control of your finances. Won’t it be nice to have options again?

Two Types of Bankruptcy in Broward County
There are two kinds of bankruptcy in the State of Florida: Chapter 7 and Chapter 13.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy, often called liquidation bankruptcy, is when your possessions or assets are sold and the proceeds distributed among your creditors. By Florida law, you can keep some of your personal property, such your car or other primary method of transportation. Chapter seven bankruptcy eliminates debts for credit cards and medical bills.

When you file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, you and your bankruptcy attorney simply work out a legal repayment plan with your creditors. After a certain amount of time, your debts are paid in full. Chapter 13 allows you to keep your possessions and assets and puts a stop to harassing phone calls and letters from collectors.
